Marine Environments

The long-term protection and durability of maritime concrete is adversely affected by many attack elements present in sea

water and salt air environments Salt attack / efflorescence is one major factor among others such as corrosion of embedded reinforcing steel, surface abrasion, moisture penetration and freeze/thaw damage.

SA CAM 110 can be deployed on new marine concrete infrastructure or used to remediate existing infrastructure that is sustaining damage. SA CAM 110 formula will stabilize pH levels and also purge and/or encapsulate contaminants within the capillaries in the concrete matrix.

SA CAM 110 fully penetrates the capillaries and invokes a Calcium Silicate Hydrate (C-S-H) reaction with the free calcium within the concrete to completely fill the capillaries with a compound produced by the colloidal nano silica (CNS) properties of this unique concrete protection technology.  

SCP prevents the ingress of oxygen and water into the capillaries to prevent corrosion in new concrete and arrest corrosion in existing concrete thus protecting the embedded rebar steel from expanding and causing

structural damage.

Marine concrete can also be enhanced in production at the ready-mix plant through the use of CAM 110 when added to the mix water before batching to produce stronger, denser concrete with fewer, smaller surface capillaries as a result of improved cement


Design life analysis conducted under the ACI Life 365 protocol shows the extended service life of CAM 110 treated concrete after one single application. Concrete treated with CAM 110 can be immersed in seawater after only two hours.

Bridge Decks and Repairs

Concrete bridge decks are an important feature of road and rail infrastructure. These decks underpin an essential element

of railway and highway routes. Their top surfaces are constantly under attack from water, moisture and other contaminations through the porous nature of railway line sleeper ballasts and pavement coatings such as asphalt and bitumen.

In order to protect the concrete bridge deck beams various coatings and membranes have been deployed in order to attempt to prevent the ingress of water and oxygen which enable the process of corrosion of the reinforcing steel to commence and progress over time. Corrosion is the number one enemy of bridge decks and it is a major cause of the parlous state of a large number of concrete bridges. 

SA CAM 110 is a penetrant that fully enters the surface capillaries to invoke a calcium silicate hydrate reaction with the free cement and calcium to FILL (not just block) the capillaries with a reaction compound that ensures that none of the attack conditions listed above can damage the concrete surfaces, paste or matrix – or corrode the embedded steel. The concrete is protected for a lifetime.

For the ready-mix concrete itself CAM 110 enhances the mix water ensuring production of stronger, denser concrete with fewer and shorter

capillaries due to the improved curing and free cement hydration that results from its application into the mix before all other concrete components are added.
